Abstract

Central Sulawesi is known for being a convergence zone of three major tectonic plates: the Indo-Australian Plate, the Pacific Plate, and the Eurasian Plate. Consequently, this region is highly susceptible to natural disasters, particularly those caused by tectonic movements such as the Palu-Koro Fault, which was responsible for the devastating earthquake on September 28, 2018. Given this context, there is an urgent need to educate the community about disaster preparedness, starting with disaster preparedness education for students in schools. Students, as intermediaries to the wider community, should be educated about earthquake-resistant simple housing. Therefore, it is essential to implement practical efforts to enhance students' understanding of earthquake processes and disaster mitigation, both within and outside the school environment. This program aims to provide knowledge to students about earthquake-resistant simple housing and disaster mitigation through interactive lectures and socialization activities. The target beneficiaries of this program are the students of SMK Negeri 1 Bungku Barat in Morowali Regency. The outreach activities are expected to improve the understanding and knowledge of the school community, especially students, regarding earthquake-resistant housing and disaster mitigation strategies within the school environment.
